Preparation Time 15 minutesCooking Time 45 – 50 minutes (or less if one big one done!)



Ingredients:-

  • 8 oz pure gram flour
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon jeera powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon dried coriander
  • 7 fluid ounces water
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:-

  • Sieve the gram flour into bowl
  • Add all dry ingredients and mix
  • Gradually add water until a thick paste is made
  • Heat the oil to a depth of 3 inches in a wok over a medium heat
  • Either drop heaped tablespoons of the mixture into the oil (not too large or the centre will not cook) and fry for 5-6 minutes until golden brown
  • Or put large amount of mixture in and flatten to make centre thin enough to cook
