Ingredients:-
- 1½ kg green tomatoes halved
- 2 large onions thinly sliced
- 350g sultanas
- 500g white sugar
- 20g salt
- 350g cooking apples large sliced
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2inch piece of root ginger thinly chopped
- 1 jalapeno chilli as ½ inch julienne
- 1 level teaspoon chilli powder
- 1 level dessertspoon jeera powder
- 1 heaped dessertspoon turmeric
- 0.5 litre malt vinegar
Method:-
- Put all ingredients in a big pan and bring to boil. Simmer for 1½ to 5 hours. Drain some of the vinegar if necessary. Fill clean, sterile, hot (put in oven on gas mark 2 for ½ hour) jars to top and seal with plastic and rubber bands. Leave for one month before eating.
